We started adding some extra features to the tutorial project we made
yesterday!
We figured it wouldn't be much of a game without a pause menu and so
we took it upon ourselves to create one! It honestly turned out to be
much easier than I expected, mostly due to the way godot is. We were
able to implement every feature we wanted just by using the docs and
our noggin. So far the features we have added include a hi-score
display, an options menu which allows the player to change music and
sfx volumes, a quit button which exits the game, a pause menu which
pauses the game and features three buttons: resume, options, and quit.
Even for such a simple project the process of learning and getting the
hang of the godot engine and scripting language has been so rewarding
and exciting. We keep getting excited at the anticipation of adding
more features to this project, and projects we might do in the
future.
It feels so wonderful to have a creative outlet again after what feels
like an eternity for us!
